What is Workload Management?
Workload is, in its purest sense, the sum of all the requests made by users and applications of a system. A workload is “platform agnostic”: it means that it can run in physical, virtual or cloud computing environments without problems or misconfiguration. Workload management is necessary for determining the correct distributions in order to obtain optimal performance. With an optimal management process you can maximize workload throughput and boost performances by making sure that no single processing node is overloaded while others are underutilized. Workload management is the process of distributing the different workloads that a system handles intelligently.
Why is so important?
The workload manager of the system fulfills these expectations by controlling access of the workload to system resources such as computing power, memory and CPU through prioritization or other algorithms.
